White Pale Horse is my way of putting thirty-plus years of specialty-retail experience to work for brands, founders, and merchants who need judgment as much as they need information.
My career was built in and around New York retail: the buying floor, vendor relationships, assortment reviews, store operations, product launches, and the moments when culture moved before the market had a name for it. That experience includes leadership roles at Blades and buying and merchandising work at Paragon Sports, across footwear, apparel, action sports, outdoor, and streetwear.
I understand the product because I've had to sell it, buy it, defend it, mark it down, and decide whether it deserves another season. Those decisions teach you things a trend deck can't.
Culture matters. So do the numbers.
I grew up professionally around skate shops, footwear brands, independent labels, music, and customers who could spot something authentic immediately. I also learned that a great story means little if the inventory doesn't turn, the margin doesn't work, or the store can't explain why the product belongs there.
I'm interested in the place where those two disciplines meet. How customers evaluate performance, fit, design, and price. Why a category works in one community and stalls in another. Where an assortment needs a stronger core, a new product, or a clearer role for what is already there.
What White Pale Horse is
A senior perspective for brand, retail, product, and commercial decisions: merchandising, assortment architecture, product strategy, consumer intelligence, and practical growth opportunities. Assignments can be narrow and specific or involve an ongoing advisory relationship, depending on the business and the decision at hand.
What it isn't
I'm not selling a prediction machine, a creative-agency retainer, or a deck full of recycled trend language. AI can help organize, challenge, and analyze information. It does not replace customer empathy, product knowledge, or responsibility for a commercial decision.
The best work is collaborative. I bring a direct perspective, real merchant experience, and an ability to connect cultural shifts to decisions a business can actually make.
Respect the product. Understand the customer. Make the economics work.
If your team has a product challenge, a confused assortment, or a market opportunity that deserves a harder look, I'd welcome a conversation.
